Talking (and dancing)

Since vacation she's been doing her darndest to talk. While on vacation she started saying ball and bird. She was so facinated with the birds flying when we were at the beach! We are counting her first word as banana (nana). You will always hear more...especially when she's eating (bottomless pit)>

Since we got home she has started saying hi and bye. She will blow kisses. Other words right now are drink, cup, food, cracker. When you ask her what a kitty says she will say "meow". Her favorite word right now is up! Wears that one right out and of course it is clearest.

 

When you get a camera out she will say "cheese".

 

 

She definitelyis understanding a lot too! She knows "night night". Heads right for the stairs repeating it while she climbs to her bedroom. She can also open & close doors (scary). Just say "close the door" and she goes right there and pushes it closed. Ask where her shoes are and she will go find them and try to put them on.

 

She LOVES to dance! All you have to do is say "shake your booty" and she will start dancing.

Melia's 1-year appointment was a bit late due to vacation. When we took her, she weighed 26.5 lbs and was 31 inches tall! Still 95-97%. Comparing her to my baby book...she is almost identical.

First Vacation - Turks & Caicos

We took our first family vacation with Melia this summer (Aug 9-16). We decided to do a splurge vacation and go to Turks & Caicos. It was a LONG trip. Melia did pretty good on the plane...though she was quite restless. Grandma Beth joined us to get away and help with the kids.

The first day we walked down the beach to a restaurant for lunch. It was so hot! Poor baby was not so thrilled when we got there. Desert babies don't like the humidity. The walk back she was happier because she got to put her feet in the water for the first time. She LOVED the beach!! I believe she ate enough sand while we were there to fill a sand box.

 

 

 



She decided to start walking while we were there. We had known for a while she could have done it, but being stubborn like she is...she decided it was now time!

 

 

 

Basically all we did on this vacation was spend time at the beach...or at the pool. So lots of those pictures. There really wasn't much more to do on the island. We did do a submarine tour. Melia wasn't overly interested in most of it.

Every time she woke up we had to wave "hello" to Melia in the mirror.

 

 

 







Melia has a pose, she stands with her forehead on the ground...sometimes she walks and runs her head along the floor. She usually does it when she's frustrated or mad. Works well on the sand too.

 

 

We had ice cream - she loved her cone.



 





 

Catch Up - Before Vacation!

It's been almost 2 months since our last post...so I'm going to do a random catch up.
